An old friend reached out and was looking to create cribbage boards for family members from a special tree that had to get taken down at their cabin. The tree had a long-standing swing on it, and she thought it would be a great idea to create a lasting gift for family members from the stump.

We took the boards up to our grandparent's wood mill and were able to get five boards out of the stumps!

We investigated two design ideas, either using numbers or lines as the marks for the five increments.

We ended up going with the lines. To line up the design just right we had to make a template then print. We thought the wood looked like snails which is how we referred to them during the design process. We did end up cutting off the bottom piece so ultimately, they look more like beans or moons.

Here's a little bonus video from the design process!
